Mostly book haul 2
Another great haul today! I wasn't expecting such good luck only two days after the last haul.
My first stop was a local bookstore run by a sweet older lady. I found two books there: Thea Stilton and the Mystery on the Orient Express (I don't think I read this one when I was young!) and a beautiful copy of Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie. Words really can't do it justice. It's a deep blue with teal and silver embellishments. There's a map of Neverland inside the cover, as well as a note that reads, "Happy 7th birthday, Luke! (2015) We love you, Mom & Dad." So cute! I suppose Luke no longer needed this book, but I'm happy to give it a new home.
My next stop was the library book sale I mentioned. I fittingly found the movie Peter Pan (2003) starring Jeremy Sumpter. It has been many years since I saw this movie, so much so that I can't recall much of it, so I'll be giving it a rewatch soon. I also found a Totally Spies manga: Spies in Disguise, produced by Tokyopop, and a W.I.T.C.H. graphic novel: The Power of Friendship. I've watched both of the shows, so I'm happy to add these to my collection. The last book I found at the library was Prilla's Prize, a Disney Fairies picture book! It's in perfect condition. Anyone who loves Disney Fairies knows that Prilla is one of the best characters in the franchise.
Lastly I dropped by Barnes & Noble. I was looking for Wings of Starlight, the recently released romance novel about Queen Clarion and Lord Milori, and the Bleakwatch Chronicles. I did find and bring home the former, but the latter was unfortunately out of stock. Instead, I picked up The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White. A couple years back I read Hell Followed With Us by the same author. His stories mainly feature trans and autistic characters and are so beautifully written. I cannot recommend them enough, especially if you love horror, thriller, and/or apocalyptic genres.
I spent the rest of my afternoon reading The Spirit Bares Its Teeth, and I'm already halfway through. It feels so personal, and it has captured my attention perfectly. I feel the anxiety rise and fall with the main character. I've never really done a book review ever, but I may try to do one for this book. There have been a couple specific moments and thoughts that stood out to me that I'd love to express, but I need to finish the book and figure out how to verbalize what it's making me feel first!
Great finds today, even if two were bought new. More to come, I hope!
