New to me: Star Wars

Last week I was scrolling on tiktok and came across a guy explaining how the stormtroopers in Disneyland/World "speak" to visitors. Inside their gloves are sensors. The actor will flick their hand or finger to cycle through different groups within their voicebank, and then with different hand gestures, the voice box in their helmet will play different phrases. I thought this was so fascinating. I love learning about the "imagineering" in the Disney parks.

Anyway, this got me thinking that it would be so cool to own stormtrooper armor. There are barely any events I attend that I could realistically wear it to, but as good of an actor as I think I am, I enjoy a role I can play from behind a mask or helmet. I scrolled through many more tiktoks and reddit posts all about stormtrooper cosplay. I learned about the 501st Legion, which sounds really cool. However, after finding out that buying and customizing a suit for myself would be anywhere from 8002,000, I decided to shelf this new dream for a later time. Not to mention the fact that I have not consumed enough Star Wars content to be considered a "real fan." (For the record, I don't think there should be a threshold of liking a thing enough to call yourself a fan)

I've seen maybe four or five of the movies throughout my life, and I think I saw an episode or two of the Mandalorian back when the first season came out. I think the reason I never got really into the franchise is because I never had a frame of reference for what was happening. So I read a couple articles online that explained the overall story of Star Wars. Nothing in spoiler territory, but enough that I now have a basic understanding of the timeline.

After this, I watched episode 4, A New Hope. This is one of the movies that I had already seen, but I felt I could appreciate it more this time around. The order I plan to watch the movies in is 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, Rogue One, 7, 8, and 9, by recommendation of my partner. I hope to check out a few of the shows, particularly the Clone Wars, since I remember seeing trailers for it when I watched Saturday morning cartoons growing up and thinking it looked cool.
